Prologue

Ecco has returned to Earth safely with his pod.

Songs of praise echo throughout the ocean - Ecco is a hero: He saved the Earth, and he destroyed the evil Vortex,

or so he thought...

The Vortex Queen deteaches from the hive and falls into the tube behind the pod of escaping dolphins.

She is puzzled by what has just happened: A small dolphin has managed to attack the hive and battle its way to her chamber. The dolphin attacked her during the feed state - she was weak and very surprised.
He beat her.

Now she must follow the pod to the Earth to start a new hive.

Epilogue

You saved Earth's future and the natural flow of the stream of time
When I sent you into the past originally, that caused the stream of time to split in two
That is why you are the stone
To prevent this from happening again, you must go to Atlantis and destroy the Time Machine
When you do this, you will swim happy again and life on Earth will go on

Epilogue

The Queen retreats within her machine. When Ecco leaves she escapes in the form of a Vortex larva.

The Queen makes her way to the sunken city of Atlantis. She finds the Time Machine and escapes into Earth's past.

When the Queen arrives in the prehistoric era, she encounters creatures that she cannot rule. She has no choice but to live within the life cycles of the Earth.

And, through the eons, the Vortexkind integrate with the life on Earth.

Ecco finds the Time Machine in the City of Forever. Instead of destroying it, he uses it and disappears into the Tides of Time.
