Replay your favourite games from those days. Or get a fresh kick of Ecco history if you've never tried these before.

However, to show some respect - if you like these, get the originals, they're worth it!

ROMs of Genesis/32X games, and Emulators

About these files

Emulation is used to play games of one gaming platform on a different one. In this case you will play games, that have originally been released for the SEGA console "Sega Genesis", play on your home computer. This is possible due to people who are able to copy data from the original game cartridges, and others who are able to write programs that act like the original consoles, or emulate them.

So, the emulator will do the job of the console, while the ROMs will take the game cartridge part. Emulators are very easy to use, and there are a lot of them, for various platforms, even other consoles. However, I will only provide you with one emulator for the Windows platform, as it is the most common used. If you are on a different platform, like Linux or Macintosh, I would like to recommend you the website Zophar's Domain, which has a huge collection of emulators!

The Emulator

Click here to download KEGA Fusion 3.64 (384KB)
Unzip it to where you want to keep it, and run Fusion.exe. To play ROMs (games), choose the option from the File menu. Configure your gamepad or keyboard with the menu on the screen. Full Screen can be toggled by choosing Video, fullscreen from the menu and can be escaped by pressing Escape. More recent versions, also for other OS, can possibly be found here.

ROM files

Download these to where you unzipped the emulator. You don't even need to unzip these files, the emulator will do it for you!
Ecco 1 US Version (505KB)
Ecco 1 Japanese Version (530KB)
Ecco 2 European Version (1.23MB)
Ecco 2 US Version (1.18MB)
Ecco 2 Japanese Version (1.18MB)
Ecco 2 Beta Version (858KB)
Ecco Jr (518KB)
Ecco 32X Cinepak Demo (1.67MB)
32X BIOS files (1,83KB)
Special Thanks goes to Arkonviox, who found someone with a original copy of the Ecco 32X Cinepak Demo. The owner was able to rip the cartridge and so another mystery in the Ecco universe was solved (The ROM is not a game, it's just a video, so you won't be able to play anything when running it). You need the 32X BIOS files and make your emulator point to them if you want to view it.

ROM hacks

Download these to where you unzipped the emulator. You don't even need to unzip these files, the emulator will do it for you!
Ecco 1 Orca (505KB)
This is a hack of Ecco 1 (US version) Sebastian made. He removed (almost) all references to dolphins from the game and replaced them with Orcas (basic Orca sprite taken from Ecco Jr.). So if you've ever wanted to play Ecco 1 as Orca, now's your chance! Play through the game for a couple more surprises!
